He was 86. Macdonald was a member of the Stratford Festival company for 17 seasons, a founding dancer with the National Ballet and artistic director of the Royal Swedish Ballet, the Harkness Ballet, Israel’s Batsheva Dance Theatre and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. My first job there as company chorologist was to notate Brian's "Time Out Of Mind" ballet. Others followed, "Firebird" was a magnificent version. RIP. Link to comment

duffster Posted December 5, 2014 Share Posted December 5, 2014 How very sad to hear this. Brian took me into the company ( Harkness) after a year of being a trainee at the school. Even though I was one of the youngest members, he gave me many opportunities from the start. I enjoyed dancing in his Firebird and the difficult Time Out of Mind. He always challenged you. RIP.
