vipa
I saw the Met Opera's Carmen in the movies today. Beautiful production. Christopher Wheeldon did a good job with the choreography and it was nice of him to give Maria Kowroski and her husband Martin Harvey a chance to dance with each other. They looked good together. abatt
This the same production that the Met filmed a few years ago with Elena Garanca and Alagna in the lead roles, when the production premiered at the Met. Pretty sure that Maria K and husband M. Harvey were the dancers in the originally filmed production too. Saving my pennies for when Jonas Kaufmann takes over as Don Jose at the Met for two performances in March 2015, with Garanca as Carmen. Link to comment
abatt
FYI, here are some rehearsal photos of Maria and Martin rehearsing their parts for the upcoming run of Carmen at the Met. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/05/arts/music/at-lincoln-center-cultural-institutions-team-up.html?ref=arts The article touches on some bigger themes regarding cooperation among the different organizations that comprise Lincoln Center.
