Jayne
Just saw this on PNB's Facebook page: Sterling Kekoa has died, at the age of 52. Dance in Peace, good sir. http://obits.staradvertiser.com/2013/08/06/sterling-kamaikiokalani-kekoa-2/ I ran a google search and found this very interesting blog, written by Mr Kekoa. Here is a good 2005 piece about the transition from the Russell / Stowell leadership to Peter Boal's tenure: http://skekoa.wordpress.com/2005/07/08/sub-vero-mr-zappone-burns-up-some-cell-minutes/ Link to comment
Helene
PNB's announcement includes a beautiful photo of Kekoa and Ariana Lallone in "The Moor's Pavane." I don't think I got to see him dance live, but I do remember the photos, like this, of him, but he danced "Commedia" in the PNB "Nutcracker" movie. Rest in peace, Mr. Kekoa, and my condolences to your family. Link to comment
sandik
Oh dear -- I did see him perform, though back then I didn't get the chance to see multiple casts so it was all pretty haphazard. I'm so sorry, for his family and friends, and for the larger dance community. Link to comment
Lizard
Jane, I know his brother very well. I will let him know of all the condolences. Is there any way to access the photo of Sterling referred to in the blog below? . I do not believe his family has that photo. Link to comment
sandik
Could you please let his family know that, after several years in limbo, it's possible to get their Nutcracker film on DVD, with SK in the Commedia part. It's available on Amazon Link to comment
