forlkot
I love the music of Ravel for Daphnis et Chloe but have never seen the ballet staged. I would like to know about any performances of this work preserved on video, particularly about ones that members can recommend. I noticed on Amazon a VHS tape of a performance by Sydney Dance Company (by Graeme) which got a very low grade from the sole reviewer. Has anyone else seen this performance? Is it really as bad as the reviewer claimed it to be? Keith Tribble Link to comment
Helene
Sydney Dance Company is a contemporary dance company, not a ballet company, and the version they dance wouldn't resemble the Fokine (choreographed for Karsavina and Nijinsky). The most well-known version in the rep today is Frederick Ashton's, which was choreographed for Fonteyn and Somes, and which is available on YouTube in nine parts with Cojocaru and Bonelli, beginning with The right column will provide links to at least Part 2. The performance was filmed by BBC as part of a gala. Link to comment

volcanohunter
A Royal Ballet performance of Frederick Ashton's version with Alina Cojocaru and Federico Bonelli in the leads was filmed by the BBC some years ago, but it has not been released on DVD. You can, however, watch it on You Tube. Note that part 3 is out of sequence on the playlist. Link to comment
