Vane danced for Balanchine variously in the 1930s and into 1940s, acc'd to the Balanchine Catalogue. she danced Calliope in his '37 staging of APOLLON MUSAGETE. earlier, in '36, she was the dancer/Eurydice in his staging of Orpheus for the met. op. Dale Posted March 15, 2008 Share Posted March 15, 2008 She's still alive, right? She took part in a lecture at Barnard a few years ago (I think, unless I'm thinking of somebody else). She had some very interesting things to say about the early versions of Ballet Imperial and Concerto Barocco. The photo is beautiful.
