Solor
I know that he was an alchoholic, and that he commited suicide, but why? Such an incredible dancer............ Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Psychiatric evaluation from afar by a non-professional is always risky, but he did have a depressive personality. There was a really good article in Ballet Review a couple of years ago, and we discussed it here: http://ballettalk.invisionzone.com/index.p...topic=14608&hl= Link to comment
zhulinka
Yuri Solovyov and Nureyev were roommates during a few of the Kirov's international tours. After Nureyev defected, Yuri was interrogated by the Soviet bigwigs numerous times because the authorities figured that he would have had information about the exact circumstances of the defection. He was found dead at his and his wife's dacha. There was a revolver near the body. Perhaps the intense interrogations pushed him over the edge? Link to comment
vrsfanatic
There are many theries regarding the death of the very great dancer Y. Soloviev however they are just speculation. Out of respect for his family, perhaps one should not speculate and gossip about the "what ifs" and "suppose this or that". The official word is suicide. Link to comment
zerbinetta
The new Ballet Review includes a wonderful article on Soloviev which consists of several interviews with contemporaries, all of whom seemed to care deeply for him. You may find it of interest. Link to comment
