Hans Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 I'm not sure that picture is an oversplit--it looks to me as if her front leg is very hyperextended and her back leg is in attitude. My problem with that photo is her arms, which are badly placed and tense. Now here's an oversplit.
carbro Posted May 15, 2003 Posted May 15, 2003 Hans, I don't know whether to thank you or not for that picture.
grace Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 again, i'm with carbro! ;) victoria - thanks for another pic. the line is just simply NOT 'classical', IMO. On the yagp web site, most of the pictures feature ultra-high extentions, over stretched jumps and contorted line, even in tutus. Probably not a good sign. a telling observation.
Mel Johnson Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 Hans, as Desi Arnaz once so wisely said: AI yi yi yi yi!
Drew Posted May 16, 2003 Posted May 16, 2003 I didn't realize so much of this thread concerned Cojocaru's jump in Bayadere when I went ahead and posted on another thread about how much I liked her jump in that ballet. Anyway I'll just say here that I agree with what has been said about her jump in Bayadere by Carbro and Cargill...(and, can't resist adding also that, although Cojocaru certainly has room to grow as a dancer, she is far -- very far -- from being vulgar!)
