  1. No info on any discount if you buy multiple performances. I assume there will not be any such discount. Also, these tickets will be subject to the per ticket Koch theater facility fee. It is strange that they skip Halloween.
  2. Thanks for the performane calendar. They are skipping a performance on Friday of the second week, but doubling up with two shows on Sunday of the second week,
  3. Gillian and Jared danced Coppelia together earlier in the run a few weeks ago. Those must be old photos you are looking at.
  4. Just noticed Semionova will not appear in the fall season.
  5. http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/07/07/new-scarlett-work-among-highlights-of-ballet-theater-season/?ref=arts# Here's a link to the NY Times re the fall season at the Koch. No Push Comes To Shove mentioned for the Fall Season. Hallberg will appear for the fall season. First time in a number of years. If Hallberg were to appear with ABT for the Nutcracker season at BAM, that would be enough to motivate me for a return visit. He and Murphy were sublime together in Nutcracker.
  6. Assuming ABT renews for another multi year stint at the MET, I'm wondering whether Gelb's "facility fee" tacked on to every ticket will also become a fixture at ABT starting in 2016.
  7. Could Giselle be the one remaining full length? It sells well if the cast is strong. An end of season Giselle week, with Osipova as a guest artist following the conclusion of the Royal's US Tour, would be a thrill.. I hope they present Othello the same week as the RB's visit. I have no problem missing all of the Othellos. Actually, I take that back. I would go to a Gomes Vishneva Othello.
  8. Anyone see Jared's farewell?
  9. I attended the matinee (Kajiya's farewell). She and Gorak did a wonderful job. Her warmth and spirit are just right for this part. Just to remind the audience and McKenzie of her strong technique, in the final act Yuriko rotated the direction of her fouettes. (She also did this when she played Kitri a few years ago.) I think that's called a four corner turn, but I'm not sure. Not many people attempt it because it is very difficult, and I'm not sure if most of the audience even understood what they were seeing. Brava Yuriko and best of luck! Another ABT season in the history books. Onwards to the Bolshoi in NYC starting July 15!
  10. I remember that ABT Sylphide/ Bolshoi Corsaire incident. I lucked out, and was able to see Osipova in NY in Sylphide, and then in Corsaire in DC with Vasiliev on the Sat matinee. If NY is the final stop on the Royal Ballet's tour of the US next spring, maybe there is a possibiity that Osipova might appear as a guest artist at ABT late in the season. She will already be here in the US anyway, so why not? Fingers crossed.
  11. No. Osipova did Giselle at least twice at ABT with David Hallberg.
  12. Good sleuthing skills California. The Mik casting may turn out to be wishful thinking designed to sell tickets based on Osipova's name. Who will actually show up to dance is another matter entirely.
  13. Seven Sonatas was brought back by ABT for one of the ABT fall seasons, and has also been taken on tour with ABT. It's cheap to present on tour (very basic costumes, no scenery). That's about it. Firebird tanked. Tempest was supposed to go to DC in April but got switched out for something else. On the Dneiper came back once. Yes, it is odd that the Ratmansky ballets created at NYCB are among his most successful (Russian Seasons and DSCH). Maybe he is better at short abstract ballets than short story based ballets.
  14. Don't know whether you saw the opening night of the Tempest at the Koch when it premiered during the Fall of 2013. If you did, you will recall that Julia Koch got to throw an elaborate gala party on the Promenade of the Koch Theater that had a Tempest theme - complete with sound effect, smoke effects, lighting effects and giant paper mache designs of a tornado. From that perspective it wasn't a waste for Julia and David Koch because they got to throw an exciting and elaborately designed party for their pals, and ABT gained from the tables sold at the gala. Better he should put his money into valiant but failed ballet projects than use it for his political pursuits. However, the Koch funds seems rather limitless for both types of pursuits.
  15. I went to the Dream last night. This was a terrific role debut for Whiteside. His rapid footwork was very clear, and he managed the difficult choreography well. I also liked his characterization, and he partnered Reyes skillfully. I liked Xiomara's performance too. However, there was no chemistry between Whiteside and Reyes. In addition, this role requires a sensual ballerina, which Reyes is not. I hate to say negative things about Salstein, but his performance lacked the bravura technique needed for the role. Skipped the Tempest again. Many, many empty seats at the Met.
  16. Look on Vishneva's own website, which is usually pretty accurate
  17. I love Lilac Garden and have been waiting for a revival. I'm guessing an official announcement re the Fall season will come by mid July, with tickets on sale shortly thereafter (but never any casting until at least Sept!). They don't want to cut into the Met ticket sales by announcing plans for the fall season before the current Met season ends.
  18. So far no announcements regarding a New York City appearance for this work. However, a little internet research revealed that before going to DC, Streetcar will play in Chicago and in Pittsburgh during May 2015. Based on that, I suspect there may be a stop in NYC too.
  19. I attended last night's performance. Compared to Monday, ticket sales were poor, at least up in the balcony area. I adore Gomes, and he certainly has the authority, the partnering skill and stage presence for Oberon. However, this role requires a lot of quick changes in direction which, in my opinion, Stearns executed better and faster. There was no comparison between Murphy's performance and Kent's. Murphy is great in Ashton roles, and is at the peak of her technical powers. Kent's performance was mostly fine, but the difference in quality between Monday and Tuesday evening was quite apparent. I loved Simkin as Puck. It suits him perfectly, and he has the spins, jumps and high elevation for the role. I didn't stay for Tempest.
  20. I too, hated Bella Figura. The rest of the program was enjoyable, though..
  21. I'm not a moderator, but why not just post it here with an intro sentence that the predictions were derived from your handy dandy crystal ball.
  22. I also recall liking Paloma in Raymonda, but it was so long ago.
  23. Last night the Dream was first, an intermission, and then Tempest. Evening ended about 9:45 PM. The intermission was long.. They had to take down the Dream set and install the Tempest set.
  24. Gomes would be great as Othello. Kent could still do Desdemona.
