  1. I don't think "Push" is the right verb in this context. It sounds like all these young dancers don't want to dance and are "forced" to dance major roles. Why not let a passionate young dancer let dance a major role, if he wants it? (of course only, if he has everything). Give him an opportunity to show himself. If he fails, wait this dancer to become better! Some dancers are earlier finished with the development of their bodies then others. A condition for letting a dancer dance a major role is that this dancer won't possibly hurt himself (e.g. I think a boy with normal physique is ready to do all these lifts only after becoming 20 years) Personally (maybe because I want to become a dancer) I don't like all these "educational" things like let a dancer doing major roles and then the next day let him dance in the corps. If a dancer deserves a place in a company, then he should stay there!

  4. Hi! Well, I just wanted to start this topic about male dancers. (Just the same as the other topic about ballerinas). Which do you prefer? Tall, huge dancers like Roberto Bolle and Igor Zelensky or smaller ones like Mikhail Baryshnikov and Manuel Legris? Personally I think taller dancers have less difficulties finding a right partner while they sometimes lack of technique. Being a short dancers myself I love watching small dancers doing tricks the tall dancers can not do
  5. Personally for me matters not how high anybody jumps (this comes from the genes), but how anybody lands. My favourite: CARLOS ACOSTA, because his landings are so soft...on stage he looks like a cat with wings.
  6. Well, I don't mind if a ballerina is not big. I love when ballerinas dance effortless and very fluently. Because of this some of the "big" ballerinas are not my favourites. My favourite is still Sylvie Guillem, who even with her length, dances "like a small one". I mean she doesn't give me the feeling: Look at me, I'm tall.
  7. Hi again! Well, some days ago I just came back from Hamburg, where I have seen two performances of "La Bayadère". If you want, I could write a short review, but I just don't know where to post it. PS. I plan to go to Paris in June for audition, if everything works out as I think.
  8. I think this will be the smallest problem of all. I'm staying in school just to get my Abitur (It's the german high school diploma, just like the bac in France), so I hope there won't be any problems...

  10. Hi! Thanks for the replies! I have asked a friend at the opera and he said that the audition takes place normally in the end of June. But I have still some more questions: 1. What is different from the "surnemeraire" contract and the permanent one? Does it differ only in lenght (one year), have you the "right" to dance the same things as a normal corps dancer? 2. Do you need any diploma to be accepted at the opera? My mother is teaching me ballet and so in a year, when I'm done with my school, I won't have any ballet education diploma. I've won a few Int'l competitions, but I'm worried that I need any diploma. Hope you can help me further
  11. Hi! I'm living in Germany and considering to go maybe to the POB. Does anybody know anything about the annual auditions held there? I would like to know anything about it. As I heard they're held usually in summer, but I'm not sure. Does the audition consist only of a training or also of variations? Ok, hope someone knows something about it in advance
