  1. Modeling Link Well, if she is "on leave" then she hasn't retired. Did anyone notice where she guest danced this past year? Perhaps the modeling link is in error and she did in fact retire.
  2. NYCB put a link up to a review of this tour sfb tour review link I found an arrangement of Vivaldi's Concerto's with guitars instead of violins or mandolins as the soloists. That might be interesting to try live.
  3. Syncopation maybe dropped? Definitely Off - Interview with Neve Campbell
  4. Announcement of Lead Casting Neve Campbell: from The Company to Syncopation. The play Its suppose to start previewing October 2nd. If anyone gets to see that, please post a review here. PS Is Michael Hayden related to Melissa Hayden?
  5. Who are the dancers in this photo: NYCB Faun ?
  6. I watch Merce Cunningham on PBS whenever possible. PBS switched DANCE nights to Wed from Thursday and after that I missed the show alot.
  7. Thanks for your reply. About the only thing that hasn't been said about CHongrois is that this was orginally choreographed for a farewell to Hayden. From the back cover, if you didn't know there was an ACT III you wouldn't know it was missing is my point there. Yes Doug, Acts I & II are very well done. I have no complaints about the quality of Jarvi's work/recording. I 'll keep a look out for the Naxos recording.
  8. Thanks for the replies. Turns out in the recording I found, the conductor excludes Act III. The third act is described as a Hugarian-flavoured Wedding Divertissement which is often performed alone. In the end, i need another recording. There should be a warning on the cover, Neeme Jarvi!
  9. Can anyone tell me which musical excerpts of the ballet Raymonda are used for Cortege Hongrois? In addition, which excerpts were used for Colleen Neary's variation and which for Merrill Ashley's variation? Speaking of Merrill Ashley, she's going to perform a new character role with the Boston Ballet in the upcoming year. It was announced in November's Dance Magazine. I can't remember which role but its an evil one. She did Carabosse previously.
  10. I've never seen Rebecca Krohn. I'm surprised Bouder is typecast. Here I wanted to spread her wings a little. Carbro, based on your description about an ideal lead, how would you feel about a Megan Fairchild leading in the Faun?
  11. I'd like to see Bouder too but I don't have a suggestion for a parnter in that yet. I'll keep my eyes open throughout the nutcracker season and see who shines.
  12. Hi Dale: While I'm aware when actual casting occurs, I'm inviting a spectator's wish list for Afternoon of a Faun.
  13. Well Afternoon of a Faun is just now in the active NYCB repertory. I suppose it will be performed in the Winter or Spring 2005. Is it too soon to start wishing for specific casting?.... (I do like the costumes.) Also Andantino looks interesting. There seem to be a no. of JRobbins works in there for the 2005 winter. Is there some sort of Robbins anniversary coming up?
  14. Thanks for the response carbro. I didn't know that nycb sang in anything. Is that the only number they sing?
  15. Link to photos of party with Misha and Sarah Jessica Parker On September 14, 2004 there was a party for the opening of a new Bottega Veneta Boutique. Its suppose to benefit the Arts Center. Anyone have any details? All I could find was photos. Misha looks great! All the best to his Arts Center.
  16. In Japan NYCB is going to do the West Side Story Suite. I just rented the video of the movie so I could see his work. How would you classify the Suite?` Is it a "broadway musical montage" or does that become a ballet somehow. I don't know anything about I'm Old Fashioned but it is being performed in LA on the upcoming visit. I see Joe Duell appeared in the original cast. (May he rest in peace.)
  17. Alexandra. If my calander weren't full, I would have gone on Sunday to see both the Boston Ballet and the Joffrey- neither of which I have ever seen live. That kind of thing (mixed program) is a real treat -- Previously, at this same event, I caught the Dance Theater of Harlem. Missed them being there this year.
  18. Gobsmacked! I hope neither Korbes nor Suozzi had to cancel due to injury. Meanwhile, here's where the inspiration for the Herman Schmerman costumes may have come from No Rain
  19. If you are in NY and you missed it Last night, Paul Taylor Dance Company will be back in March, 2005. Tickets went on sale 9/7/04 at City Center.Paul Taylor in NYC (Last night was the first time I'd seen anything Paul Taylor live.)
  20. I did myself a favor and saw Paul Taylor 's Promethean Fire last night in NY. I didn't see these reviews in advance but it was all THAT. Thank you to his Dance Company for coming.
  21. No I had other plans for tonight. I was hoping you [Oberon] would go and then could write us a report. I did attend last night and since have become a Paul Taylor fan.
