  1. Are these photos you speak of online anywhere?
  2. Wow, this site certainly offers many more ballet movies than amazon does!! What exactly is "PAL" format? I have never heard of it before (probably because it is European ;) ). What would hinder me fom being able to watch a DVD in this format? A movie is a movie, right?
  3. The problem is, I try typing in Romeo and Juliet in amazon and nothing too much comes up. There are several Swan Lake videos, mostly by the Kirov. Should I try to type in "Paris Opera Ballet"?
  4. Yes, I suppose you are right. Perhaps the point I am trying to make out of this is that even very talented people are in the corps, and you have to be extremely exceptional to be a principal.... I hope I can get there someday!
  5. I am quite sure you are being sarcastic, Mr. Johnson, yet if you were not, then what I meant is why isn't he a soloist or principal [because of his talent]? Come now, surely you must know I am not that... ahem... dumb... Someone I know sad that because ABT is such a huge company it is easy to be lost and forgotten in the corps...
  6. Is there a reason why every single dancer they pictured has brown hair? Are there no blondes in this company?
  7. There was a nice article in Pointe magazine about Svetlana Lunkina and has a gorgeous picture of her.
  8. Does anyone know why this very talented dancer is in the CORPS????
  9. Is she a principal at the Bolshoi Ballet? Does anyone know if she is in an videos or video clips online??
  10. Mr. Johnson~ I know that the movie needed a youthful and good-looking Frodo (those eyes! ;) ), however when I was reading, I came to realize that in the books Frodo is much older on his journey than in the movie, is he not? In the very beginning when he was still in the Shire, I believe they mentioned him being what, 33 in hobbit years whch is their "coming of age" so like our 18? But then later on they keep saying "old Frodo" and such. Hmmm
  11. dancindaughter, I think that the YAGP would be beneficial to attend, it does definately have quality dancing. It is a prestigious competition, not just one of those that any old studio can enter. If you want proof, look at the pictures on the website, they are beautiful! www.yagp.org And mom2, there definately was at least one person from the US- I know that for a fact because a girl from my dance school went.
  12. Yeah, I agree Watermill - there were what, three Americans there? One of them, was from my dance school. But- THREE, out of this huge country with so many talented dancers!!
  13. What is the website where you can watch videos of this competition??
  14. Thank you very much! Unfortunately, I cannot go to London to see it... do you have any idea when they will next perform in New York?
  15. Hello! Does anyone know when the next performance by the Studio Company is??? Or what about for the rest of the season?
  16. Balletmama, When did Sarah [Lane] dance? She went to my studio, I love her! She is so amazing. When was this performance? Was it spectacular? Which pas de deux did she and her partner dance? The one from Act 2 (or is that the only one?) Hahaha, well please reply soon!
  17. Yes, they did preserve everything... I read that shooting in one of the locations required them to take out some bushes and gardens and grass and such, and they had to keep it all growing in some greenhouses so that it could be returned when they were done! I think the movies are wonderful as well. I saw that customs thing too
