We saw the Sunday October 2 , 2pm performance. The four little swans were precision with a capital P, precision even to the breathing. !!! All corps dances were equally precise.

A few years back, Suzanne Farrell Ballet was at the Bardavon Opera House (1869). In Poughkeepsie. Two hours north of NYC. A beautiful old theatre that hold approx. 900. Bard just opened a new theatre in May....I have checked the Bardavon web site and it is in a state of "updating"

I am glad I got it into the correct forum. Her main teacher is from NYCB and danced with "Mr. B" DD is very "mannered" in her style.Use to quickness and speed.

Trying to draw up a list of ballet companies who have Balanchine "roots." My daughters AD of ballet school told her to go towards SI's and companies that are "run" by x-dancers of his. My small list is: NYCB- Peter Martins Suzanne Farrell- Suzanne Farrell Ballet Paul Mejia- Arlington Ballet, TX Edward Villella- Miami City Ballet NCDT- Jean Pierre Bonnefous and Patricia McBride This list has to be bigger......assistance please Hope this is on the correct forum :rolleyes:

Does anyone know of plans for Suzanne Farrell Ballet this year? Tours etc?

NPBT (New Paltz Ballet Theatre) located in New Paltz NY is having their audition this weekend. The production is held in the 1869 Bardavon Opera House in Poughkeepsie NY. about 2 hrs north of NYC.They do 7 performances the first weekend of December. Artistic Directors are both former NYCB dancers. Peter and Lisa Naumann.With their ties to NYCB they always have the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Cavalier being dancers (principals) from city ballet. The remainder of the cast is local dancers. Last year they were blessed with a student from SAB in the cast. Contact would be 845-255-0044 and ask for Peter Naumann for details. There also is a web site for the theatre at : www.clix.to/npbt with some audition information. Rehearsals are most likely for this age gal Saturday pm and Sundays.I may add there is a very strict committment for the dancers.

I am reading girl in the mirror A book about moms and daughters in the years of adolescence. Perfect for a lot of us moms on board:) it's about peer influences, "raging" hormones, the girls need to "seperate" from mom, and the big one "parental control" It is co-authored by mom's of adolescent daughters. Hoping to help "my journey and hers" a bit easier and smoother than mine was.;)
