naomikage
The National Ballet of Ukraine is currently offering a full recording of their Snow Queen which was filmed during their Japan tour last winter. Originally , the music was by Tchaikovsky but as commonly known they don't perform ballets by Tchaikovsky so they changed the music, which are a mixed bag of various composers such as Strauss, Mascagni, Greig, Massnet, Berlioz, Ponchielli But the performance is quite enjoyable. Choreographed by Aniko Rekhviashvili, Gerda : Ilona Kravchenko, Kai: Mykita Skharkov, The Snow Queen; Anastasia Shevchenko. They are also offering some other full length performances such as Don Quixote. Link to comment
volcanohunter
I saw the previous version of The Snow Queen, and it always featured a mixed bag of composers. However the big set piece in the Snow Queen's domain was previously set to Tchaikovsky, and in that instance the music was changed and the section rechoreographed. Link to comment
