California
The Colorado Ballet posted its 2016-17 roster today: http://www.coloradoballet.org/company/dancers Principals: No change (same seven as last year) Soloists: Two new promotions from the corps: Morgan Buchanan and Kevin Gael Thomas + three continuing (Dyer, Estevez, Sasaki) Corps: No new additions; two from last year's corps are now listed in a new category of Apprentices (Dessens and Padgett) Apprentices: This is a new category. Along with Dessens and Padgett, two members of last year's studio company are included (Kucera and Rhoads). The fifth is Fernanda Oliveira; although her bio says this is her second year with the company, she wasn't listed last year in either the studio company or corps, so I'm not sure about this one. Studio company: This will be announced in August 2016 Link to comment
BalletFan
Alexandra Pullen, corps de ballet dancer, is no longer on the roster. She was interning at L.A. Magazine this summer. Apparently, she's decided to stay L.A., and is now working as a freelance writer, social media specialist and copywriter. After two years with ABT and two years with Colorado Ballet, it looks like she's leaving her dance career behind. Link to comment

But now on the web site I see she's gone and an apprentice (Fernanda Oliveira) has been moved up to the corps. Link to comment
BalletFan
Hmmm... maybe she was intending to come back to Colorado Ballet after her L.A. Magazine internship ended, but at the last minute, decided not to?? I don't know. I started following Alexandra on Instagram because she used to dance with ABT. (Her mother also danced with ABT.) But I never thought that Alexandra sounded happy with her dance career. I remember one post where she talked about "pointing to a random city on a map and moving there to start in a completely different profession." According to her social media postings, she sounded much happier after moving to Los Angeles. https://www.instagram.com/p/BCEzu1aOCxt/?taken-by=aepullen14&hl=en Link to comment
California
I'm reminded of a quote from Balanchine: "I'm not looking for people who want to dance. I'm looking for people who have to dance." If Pullen misses ballet, there are several small groups in LA where she might find work -- Barack Ballet, LA Ballet, LA Dance Project. Looking at some old programs, it appears she was an apprentice for one year at ABT and then a corps member for one year. Link to comment
California
Who is Alexandra's mom? Ellen Pullen Shaker, according to this NY Times story from 2012: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/07/arts/dance/following-moms-footsteps-and-her-toe-work.html Link to comment
