Cygnet
Russia's Minister of Culture, Vladimir Medinsky has appointed banana billionaire, Vladimir Kehkman as the new Director of the Novosibirsk Theatre of Opera & Ballet. Kehkman will also keep his current position as Director of St. Petersburg's Mikhailovsky Theatre of Opera & Ballet. http://siberiantimes.com/culture/theatre/news/n0169-director-of-novosibirsk-opera-and-ballet-theatre-fired-in-religious-backlash/ Link to comment
volcanohunter
My, oh my. The grotesque hypocrisy of playing the offended religious feelings card to get oneself appointed director of an opera house. Link to comment
Natalia
When I lived in StP, a theatrical production that included Tsar Nikolai II as one of the characters was shut down because, as saints, the last tsar and his immediate family cannot be portrayed on a stage. So I guess that MacMillan's ANASTASIA won't be performed in Russia anytime soon. Link to comment
abatt
I've seen MacMillan's Anastasia. It was awful, and Russians should consider themselves lucky if it's never performed there. Link to comment
