MakarovaFan
I recently watched on VHS a fantastic documentary called "The Hermitage: A Russian Odyssey" from the mid '90's. Besides the history and sublime art, I fell in love with the musical chosen for the program. Of the Russian music, it was easy to pick out the Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky and Prokofiev. But I had a harder time recognizing a symphonic piece (a slow movement) that sounded like Shostakovich and was featured prominently in episodes 2 and 3. Does anyone know what this piece was? Also, I recognized Arensky's Piano Trio No. 1; can anyone recommend a recording of this work? Thank you! Link to comment
