There is a new recording available of the above ballet - does anyone know anything about it? Is the music well known, or virtually unknown?

as this has been around for a little while, it may already have been noted here. i am unable to seach for back posts but perhaps someone who can will find that we've discussed this to some extent.

this ballet makes the history books as THE BEAUTY OF GHENT.

Adam was in the process of finishing the music for the first full length ballet Grisi was to dance at the Opéra, La Jolie Fille de Gand. Although already in rehearsal, the ballet was not pleasing to Grisi. At Adam's request, Léon Pillet made the unusual move of halting rehearsals for La Jolie Fille de Gand so that work on Giselle could begin.
