Amy Reusch
I was interested to read that Kolpakova was setting the Papillion pas de deux on NJ Ballet. I hope someone here goes and posts on the results! I couldn't quite figure out from the article... this is a Lacotte "recreation".... is it a reconstruction? What is it based on? (I hope she doesn't go up in flames at the end!) Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Lacotte works from notation when he has it as in his version of the "Vivandiere" pas de six, or written notes and published accounts, as in his La Sylphide, but a lot of the time, it's just "in the manner of". Link to comment
rg
lacotte's staging of this pas has been filmed at least twice and released on video, as i read now from the listing i put together for the videography of my book. both times the dance is performed by kolpakova and berejnoi. 1] KIROV SOLOISTS, 1982 2] THE KIROV BALLET IN LONDON, 1988 in the first, earlier filming, kolpakova performs the intricate solo passages that by '88 she no longer included in her performances. i think the first has been released on DVD, i'm not sure about the second.
