Alessandra Ferri danced a few performances in 2004 as Blanche in John Neumeiers 'Endstation Sehnsucht' (A streetcar named desire) in Stuttgart. It's a modern story ballet. She was amazing, she lived the role. There are some new pictures of Alessandra and Roberto Bolle on Robertos Homepage.

Hi Friederike, how does one become a member of the John Cranko Foundation?

Does anybody know if there is such a thing like 'open rehearsals' in Stuttgart? Other companies like the Royal Ballet in London provide this from time to time. Maybe this is also offered in Stuttgart and i just do not know about.

Stuttgart Ballet will be in Luxembourg at March 3rd and 4th. On the program is John Crankos Taming of the Shrew. The role of Katharina will be danced by Sue Jin Kang and Petruchio will be danced by Filip Barankiewicz. Once more, Sue Jin and Filip are dancing together. It looks more and more that Filip will become the steady partner fo Sue Jin, the place which was taken by Robert Tewsley all the years he had been in Stuttgart. Sue Jin Kang is a wonderful dancer-actor and has a huge comedian talent. I remember her lady with the hat in THE CONCERT. Taming of the Shrew will be on program in Stuttgart from May 29th. on.

Robert Tewsley seems to be injured again. He also does not appear in the casting list for February 24-29.

Has anyone seen the performance of jewels on Tuesday night? How was Robert Tewsley in Emeralds after his long absence from stage?

Jasper, I was not at the first night of Giselle but I was at 'Dance in process' last night. It was not a rehearsal in the way I expected it but it was full length Giselle with short interruptions. Mostly the stop was to tell the corps what they have to change or to do better. The performance was without orchestra but with only piano music. Maria Eichwald was a wonderful Giselle. I saw her for the first time. She is a real gain for Stuttgart Ballet. The part of Albrecht was danced excellently by Mikhail Kaniskin. Well, you will see the both of them at this weekend. I am afraid you will see the same cast twice... There is a short review on the first night in the Stuttgarter Zeitung.

I have just been told Douglas is injured but will probably be back on stage soon. Hopefully!!! Good health for him.

Does anybody know why Douglas does not appear in any cast list? I missed him in Swanlake, Lulu, Endstation Sehnsucht and now in Giselle. Is he injured or is he so busy with the choreography of his new work? It would be nice if anybody could tell about him.

Yes, it's actually astonishing, Maria is in cast for dance in process and for 2 times Giselle in sequence. First cast for dance in process on Feb. 5th. was Alicia and Filip and now it is changed to Maria Eichwald (Giselle), Mikhail Kaniskin (Albrecht).

Hi Jasper, maybe 'Stuttgart' or 'Friederike' know what happened with Alicia. It would be very nice if one of you would tell us why Alicia disappeared from the cast list. Thank you and greetings.

There is an interview with Sue Jin Kang in a Stuttgart newspaper from today. Sue Jin says that she is looking forward dancing the Anderson/Savina-Version of Giselle for the first time. She was injured when it first was on stage a couple of years ago. She says how much she loves acting roles and that it is always important for her to know the reason why she is smiling on stage... She looks at Giselle as a big challenge espc. in act II when she is only a spirit being. Sue Jin Kang will dance the first night on February 4th with Jason Reilly as Albrecht.

Sorry, I don't know about Ivan Nagy. Former AD in Santiago was Ricardo Bustamente who he left the company abruptly in January 2003. Interims AD was Luz Lorca.

and if it's just for one evening... On Februray 23rd, at Sadler's Wells in London, at the "Benois de la Danse" Awards-Gala, Sue Jin Kang and Robert Tewsley will dance together again. They will dance pieces of John Neumeier’s The Lady of the Camellias.

Marcia Haydee completely withdraw from Stuttgart Ballet when Reid Anderson became AD in Stuttgart. Marcia married a Yoga teacher and lives outside of Stuttgart in a rural area. She did a project with M. Bejard based on the life of Mother Theresa. Also she did some other, contemporary, dance-projects with Ismael Ivo. The last was based on the life of Callas with the title 'M like Callas'. These projects took place in smaller theatres in Stuttgart. The Mother Theresa project was also shown in London. By the way, could you find out something new about R.T.? Greetings

The former principal and director of Stuttgart Ballet, Marcia Haydee, is again director of the Ballet de Santiago Chile. Marcia will take over responsibility in March 2004. She has already been director of this company from 1992 to 1995. Marcia Haydee announced, amongst classics like swanlake and nutcracker, a Strawinsky evening with 'Sacre' and 'Firebird' as well as a new Carmen production from Ismael Ivo and herself.

Hello Anne, oh god, this are really bad news. Do you have closer connections to dancers because you know so exactly what happened to him? Friedemann is still so very young and i am sure his body is able to recover when he allows it to rest. I remember he has been injured last year for a very long time as well. So, hopefully his career is not in danger. By the way, are Friedericke and Anne two different people? Greetings Reinhard

Hello Stuttgart, no, it was definitely Friedemann Vogel. I know him. It was at the 'Tag der offenen Tür' in the opera house when everybody interested could come and see. Friedemann and Alicia were rehearsing with Mrs. Savina. It is only on days like this that i have the chance to watch a rehearsal. Therefore i was really surprised not to find Friedemann on the cast list. Now it's clear why. I hope, Friedemann is not injured too seriously and will be able to dance again very soon. Sorry, but i absolutely do not want to start the 'injury-discussion' again. Since Robert Tewsley is definitely my favourite dancer i am really worried about his absence from any cast-list within the past 5 weeks and he does not appear in the newest list. Either he is guesting with some other company (which i don't believe) or he is seriously injured or sick. Mr. Tewsley has not been blissed with good health since he joined NYCB. Does anybody know anything about him? I would be thankful for any news.
