  1. Week 4 casting https://res.cloudinary.com/new-york-city-ballet/image/upload/v1714512649/NYCB_Casting_May_14-19_2024_lobby.pdf
  2. Just looked on the National Ballet of Canada website and as of right now, only three shows have sold out sections. Two of those shows are with Mearns.
  3. That sounds wonderful as well! Ballet Herald and Sara Mearns announced she would be guesting with the National Ballet of Canada for 3 nights at the end of June. Performing in each of the three segments of Jewels. She did post an IG story the other day, watching Emily Kikta rehearse. “tall girl” with the caption preparing my homework or something like that. Love to see that.
  4. Yes, I know she has/had been under studying Diamonds. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if she did a show at the Kennedy Center. I think I might try to go for the three shows over the weekend… I’m sure the casting would be worth it. I’m wondering about Midsummer… I would love to see Nadon as Titania. I know this field is fairly crowded (Phelan, Mearns, Gerrity and Miller), but she is a Principal. Love this @abatt, I feel the same way.
  5. B.Pollack is pregnant, perhaps even delivered?
  6. Interesting, the dancer I thought of that could really do something with this was Naomi Corti.😊
  7. Looks like a big opening week for A. Macgill- not only dancing in “Dances at a Gathering,” but now replacing Woodword in fourth movement Symphony in C. Super excited for us & for her!
  8. Thank you, I totally missed that. I think it’s too long to wait.
  9. I wonder why no Chaconne? I’m surprised no other retirements announced.
  10. Is it possible 2nd cast for Errante is following week and Nadon could get cast in Symphony in C?
  11. Excellent idea. Why isn’t Nadon doing Waltz Girl? She was spectacular in Madrid. I understand the role is cemented in Mearns rep (and for good reason), but sometimes casting needs to shift. Does anyone know if this is Stafford or a combination of Stafford in the Board? I was disappointed Emma Von Enck, and Alec Knight were not promoted. Stafford seems to be very, not sure what the right word is -conservative(?), regarding casting and promotions. I am sure Von Enck’s promotion is coming…just a question of when.
  12. Totally agree! I’m going to be in London during this time, I was so looking forward to seeing NYCB. But this program is such a dud. I really hate to say this, but no desire to see this program.
  13. As many have noted (including myself), where IS Kikta? It’s such a shame for the audience to not see her. I can’t figure out why management wouldn’t use her. She is utterly spectacular. It appears they’re pushing M Miller at this point. Kind of like they were pushing O.McKinnon and Bailey Jones last winter. E. von Enck is probably the only promotion to Principal. I would be very surprised if they promoted Maxwell. She certainly is on the right trajectory, but not yet. Probably and hopefully Alec Knight to Soloist. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if they promoted India Bradley as well. As far as other women corps promotions to Soloist… I think all of the above are excellent candidates. None have really shown their stuff in anything more than small featured roles or Demi solos. I think you have to dance in Balanchine and Robbins “true” Soloist/Principal roles before you make the leap. I also think Collett is in this category. Management seems to like her and is featuring her. It seems like Mabie and Gabriel are on the Soloist trajectory. I think they need to have a little more seasoning before it happens. But honestly, what do I know? I’m not the Director.😊 As far as upcoming retirements, and there should be a few, perhaps they didn’t want any farewells to put a damper on the 75th anniversary season.
