Seeing the 4-hour plus reconstructed Beauty alone is worth the entire trip. While Bayadere is listed as the Soviet version.

Given the deplorable state of ballet in Saint Petersburg and Moscow, where classicism has been erased and changed for CIRCUS and vulgarity, I would suggest the future generation must be sent to London, we will always have the Royal Ballet....
Covent Garden is more like a House of McGregor-Wheeldon-Scarlett nowadays.

Sarasota will return to Joyce as part of the ballet festival with mixed programs of Ashton, Balanchine, de Valois, Tharp, Bintley, Wheeldon, and Bourne.

Peter Boal would be a top contender should Martin step down.

So many things that would be great for the 2018 Lincoln Center Festival: along with the ENB Giselle, it would be nice if they brought some of their "Lest We Forget" program from 2014. And how about the Houston Ballet's Mayerling? They need venues. They are the only people in North America who have been permitted to perform it. Or perhaps they could all head to the Kennedy Center for 2018-19.
2018 LSF will bring in POB, so I doubt it will present another classical company. However, don't rule out Joyce, as it has brought RB, MCB, NB Canada, Joffrey, and SFB to the State Theater in the past few years.

Effective for the 18/19 season. He will continue to dance with ABT presumably at a reduced capacity.

I find it amusing that many New Yorkers brag about their inability to drive like it's a badge of honor.

La Cour may have been the last one. He did have an inside track, though, as Nilas Martin's step-brother.
I believe La Cour and Nilas are half-brothers, sharing the same mother, Peter's ex-wife.

I was at Taming of the Shrew tonight. During the first act the fire alarm went off and it was chaotic for about 10 minutes. That unfortunately was the most exciting part of the evening.
A company member half-jokingly mentioned the alarm might have been a sabotage, set off by a rival.

Thank you. Sounds like a substantial tour and a lot of it in New York. Also some interesting choreographers. I guess the precise dates are still unknown.
Lincoln Center Festival usually starts the second week of July and lasts thru the end of July. NY portion of the tour will probably be from mid to end of July.
-
The 2018 American tour will cover 3 cities over 4 weeks. NY will be the last leg of the tour with 3 programs over 2 weeks as part of Lincoln Center Festival. The other city will be Dallas.

Pay attention to the violin solos (Benjamin Bowman) next week, they'll come from a Stradivarius.

Dream comes true. But being in rehearsal could mean she's just studying for the role as an understudy for Kochetkova. But the prospect of Lane's O/O is looking great.

Someone above commented that Seo is taking Murphy's SL. Gulp. Now I have to figure out what dates I have available to exchange out of that SL. I would have welcomed just about any other O/O except Hee Seo.
I've heard that's exactly my sentiment. I'd welcome any replacement other than Seo.

ABT usually announces promotions towards the end of the spring season, so announcement is just a few weeks away. I think Lane will be promoted. Shevchenko and Teuscher are definitely principal material, I think they will be promoted eventually. And I really hope Royal will be promoted this time.

I saw Misty Copeland NY debute tonight, it was sold out. She's a good actress but needs to work on her technical department. Her hop on point was too careful too conscious, looking down at her foot most of the time, and hops didn't travel far. All in all not a bad debute. Devon Teuscher was fantastic as Myrtha, with a very fluid upper body. Her borree across the stage was very floaty. The corps were wonderful in 2nd act, very in synch.
