I'm always struck by the difference between SAB's rather cozy, personalized IG account that's filled with pictures of students, classes, teachers, and what not, and NYCB's extremely corporate IG. The two institutions are so interconnected, but SAB's IG account seems run by someone who truly loves SAB, and NYCB's IG account seems like it's run by someone whose job it is to run a company social media account.

Certain things sell well. MSND was nearly sold out, so were most of the Swan Lake programs.

I really enjoyed Symph in Three Movements last night. Will miss Hyltin in the central role.

Fairchild and Veyette have actually danced together several times since they divorced.
One was a last-minute throw on Allegro Brillante.
Another was a run of Divertimento #15's.
They also did the Costermonger pas de deux in Union Jack. That was actually a bit awkward because they play a bickering couple, but they were good sports about it.

Sara is out for the gala tonight. She posted that she has a small injury.

Pretty frustrated by Mira Nadon's casting, if I'm being honest. She is a once in a generation talent and I don't want to see her rot on the vine. I know she had surgery, but if she is capable of doing the *very* difficult final solo (and two ladies dance that follows) in 'Raymonda', is she not capable of doing more than stand in heels for the entire last two weeks of the fall season? I could see her leading in almost every ballet in the rep and instead we are treated to people who are simply not of her caliber (or at best inadequately prepared/out of shape).
Hoping I'm just being cynical and there is a logical reason here.
She's had some big assignments: Piano Pieces, Raymonda Variations. She's recovering from a major surgery so they probably don't want to push her too much.

Week 3 of casting is finally up. I have the feeling there will be changes as Mejia and Walker seem to be out.

A lot of dancers are out of shape after a long injury. Remember Tiler Peck looked out of shape when she first came back.
-
When I saw Bouder on Tuesday night she didn't look out of shape to me. At least not visibly. But her dancing was leaden and effortful. She used to be such a strong, fast, dynamic dancer. I was not used to seeing her so careful and slow.

In addition to Hutsell, I see that Sean Suozzi and LaJeromeny Brown are also off the roster.
LaJeronemy Brown according to his IG has become a fashion designer and drag queen.

After reading about John Wayne's offscreen life I can barely watch his movies anymore. What a vile person.

Misseldine I think is quite tall and PP is a role for shorter dancers.

It's not much to go by, but this looks more "reconstructionist" than what Ratmansky did in Moscow. At the Bolshoi it was probably hopeless to regulate leg or passé height or to have chaînés on demi-pointe.
it actually looks the same.

There's videos of Sinfonietta on YT:

Misty has been on maternity leave.

Thanks for the reports! And I agree that Huxley's Oberon is a marvel. Truly the gold standard.

Well, then perhaps it is better not to mention unpleasant topics.
The point is that in the cited post, Kovalyova did not say that she is opposed to the war. Opposed because killing, maiming and destruction is wrong, because the fragile world order has been upended, because Russia has turned into a pariah state and Russian society is regressing, because bombing cities into nonexistence and raping and pillaging are criminal. Rather, she just wants her old life back, when she used to go on cool tours to cool places and meet cool people, including photographers who took cool pictures of her.
Mourning the loss of her ability to travel against the backdrop of actual events comes across as tone deaf at best. Even people who are not obviously affected by the invasion mourn what we lost as a result of the pandemic. We generally don't illustrate this by posting glamour shots of our past, which would trivialize the great and genuine tragedies. Moaning about the fact that she can't tour the world anymore, just like grumbling about the loss of these tours on our part, is egocentricity and just so much "First-World problems."
A lot of judgments and assumptions about Kovaleva's character from one harmless post.

Damn Gustave Le Gray is cursed. I wanted to see it in the spring and it was also canceled due to covid.

By far the three worst works I ever saw at NYCB were by white men.
They are:
1) Boris Eifman's Musagete. Awful. Beyond awful. A crude, vulgar sendup of Mr. B's life.
2) Neverwhere by Benjamin Millepied. The leather costumes were nice, I guess.
3) Shambards by Christopher Wheeldon. It was a dark, muddled mess.

I did not, but ballet master Carlos Lopez posted some photos/videos on his IG of the McKenzie farewell. Lots of former dancers obv. Surprised to see Paloma on stage (and looking so happy) given how her retirement went and the cold shoulder she literally gave him. Stearns is also on stage.

Sarah Lane was also there.

Again, a surprise given the way her ABT career ended.
