A  look at the diets of Atlanta Ballet dancers.

Quote

Most professional athletes adhere to strict meal plans. NBA and NFL players rely on chefs and meal coaches who guide their day-to-day nutrition. Ballet is one of the most athletic art forms, yet even the most prestigious dance programs don’t employ personal chefs.

“Oh boy, you can just get me on my soapbox about that,” says Val Schonberg, a registered and licensed dietitian and a specialist in sports dietetics, who helps advise Atlanta Ballet dancers.

A review of the National Ballet of Japan by Naomi Mori for Bachtrack.

Six years has passed since this Nutcracker was taken into the repertoire, and the quality of dancing has been kept high in the leading roles. I watched the first cast, Ayako Ono as Clara and the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Yudai Fukuoka as the Nephew/Nutcracker and the Prince, and at every moment, they shone. In this production, a child dancer does the role of Clara until the clock strikes midnight and the Christmas tree grows. The moment Ono steps onto the stage as Clara in her dreams, the delightful carriage of her limbs, the delicate musicality and innocence of a young girl, bedazzles the audience.

A review of  Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo in a performance honoring the memory of Prince Rainier III by Ilona Landgraf in her blog, "Landgraf on Dance."

The company waltzed with nonchalant elegance and verve as if propelled forward on a predestined trajectory. Frivolous decadence filled the air. Each couple – whether boisterous, introverted (but haughty), dandy-ish, or endorphin-fueled – created their separate mini-cosmos. The evening’s harbinger of death was danced by Jaat Benoot; Lou Beyne portrayed his victim, plunging herself into ruin the moment she slipped into the black elbow gloves. Jérôme Tisserand was the hapless admirer who she ditched in favor of death.
