Amy Harris is retiring form the Australian Ballet.

Quote

Harris will dance as Marguerite in the final performances of her 22-year career at the Sydney Opera House with opening night Friday.

She began dancing at the age of three and was accepted into The Australian Ballet School at the age of 15, joining the national company in 2002.

New Jersey Ballet opens its season with a mixed bill.

New Jersey Ballet presents A Night on the Town at the Two-River Theater. The company included Raynor Rubel, Brian Sevilla, Jonatan Lujan, Joshuan Vazquez, Eunice Suba, Denise Parungao, and Raleigh Ledford. Also on stage were Ilse Kapteyn, Risa Mochizuki, and Daniel Ulbricht (NY City Ballet Principal Dancer), along with the rest of the company.

A preview of Maine State Ballet's Nutcracker.

Artistic director and former New York City Ballet dancer Linda MacArthur Miele directs and choreographs the story of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as they travel through the Land of Sweets to meet the Sugar Plum Fairy. Costumes and scenery were handled by Associate Director Gail Csoboth, while Robert Lehmann debuts as conductor of the Maine State Ballet orchestra and chorus.

An interview with William Trevitt and Michael Nunn.

When they happened upon the book last year, says Trevitt, “It occurred to us that the obvious interpretation of ‘England on Fire’ is that England’s gone to s---, politicians are corrupt, capitalism’s gone crazy, and so on. But actually, when you look through it and you allow it to percolate, I started thinking there’s so much going on, there’s so much creativity and talent and potential, opportunity, and maybe that’s the way England is ‘on fire’.
