Dancer Johaar Mosaval has died at age 95.

Mosaval performed on international stages and taught and mentored the next generation of South African dancers. Born in Cape Town on 8 January 1928, he was the first black South African dancer to become a senior principal at the Royal Ballet in the UK.

Mosaval started dancing in the 1940s. In 1950, two visiting dancers – Alicia Markova and Anton Dolin – recognised the talented Mosaval and assisted him in getting a scholarship to attend Sadler’s Wells Ballet School in London. After a year, he progressed to the Royal Ballet School, and after another year graduated into the Royal Ballet Company.

Boston Ballet has a new executive director.

As Boston Ballet begins preparations to open the company’s 60th season, it announced the appointment of Ming Min Hui as its new executive director today. Hui, who joined Boston Ballet as its chief of staff in 2015, became its chief financial officer in 2019, mining a background in investment banking and corporate strategy at JP Morgan Chase. She has been serving as the company’s interim executive director since the July departure of Meredith “Max” Hodges, who left to become CEO of the Shed in Manhattan
