A areport from the International Competition for the Erik Bruhn Prize by Denise Sum for danceviewtimes.

Quote

The last time the competition occurred was in 2019, when the winners were American Ballet Theatre’s Catherine Hurlin and NBoC’s Siphesihle November. Both are now principal dancers at their respective companies. This year, for the first time, the competition was livestreamed. Certainly, the increased practice of livestreaming performances is a positive byproduct of the pandemic, making special events like this accessible to a broader audience. The competition was hosted by retired principal dancer Rex Harrington, who is now rehearsal director and principal coach with the NBoC. Cracking jokes and making multiple outfit changes, Harrington was an engaging host and clearly happy to be back on that stage.
