The United Ukrainian Ballet visits Australia.

If there is one reason for ballet lovers to see the United Ukrainian Ballet’s performance of Swan Lake, which opened at Sydney’s Darling Harbour Theatre last night, it is to witness the brilliance of prima ballerina Kateryna Chebykina, who leads the company in the dual role of Odette/Odile.

Iryna Khutorianska, 20, was working with the Lviv National Opera and Ballet theatre when Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

“Since the war had started, I was with my family back in Kyiv it was my hometown we thought it would be safer and better for us," she told Sky News Australia's Jaynie Seal.
