dirac
A review of the Royal Ballet by Sarah Crompton in The Guardian. Quote Crystal Pite is an extraordinary choreographer. Her uniqueness is not her talent for making dances for large groups of people that unfold with a silken energy, filling huge stages with ripples of movement. It’s not even her skill at carving dances that seem at once weightless and freighted with depth. Link to comment
dirac
Benjamin Millepied talks about his directorial debut in film with "Carmen." Quote Millepied was born in France and Carmen is an opera he grew up with. "There was a lot of music around our house and my father's side of the family are all musicians," he says. "Somehow it was a story that resonated with me as a child, and I eventually became interested in other versions of it such as Carlos Saura's film. It always stayed with me." Link to comment
dirac
A review of American Ballet Theatre in "Whipped Cream" by Ivy Lin for Bachtrack. Quote Breanne Granlund made a very fine debut as Princess Praline. Her steps have a natural sweetness and light to them, and she looks exactly like the kind of princess of a sick boy’s dreams. She did have trouble with a few moments of her variation, but she was very winning overall. Link to comment
