dirac
An interview with Christopher Wheeldon. Quote Inevitably, he had reservations about taking it on, because of the complexities of Jackson’s legacy. “Everyone has their own opinion,” he says. “Some people think it’s not appropriate; some people separate the art from the artist. We’re asking, in part, how do we have this conversation about this great body of work that’s going nowhere? We focus on the creative process. Despite the fact he’s so polarising, his music connects. On a nightly basis we have the most diverse audience in New York, all connecting through his music. I don’t regret having done it at all.” Link to comment
dirac
A review of New York City Ballet by Leigh Witchel for dancelog.nyc. Quote Ramasar’s reaction to the monsters was very detailed, and again, comic rather than frightened, clapping at the monsters to shoo them as you might an unruly dog. His responses to Christopher Grant made it clear that Kastchei isn’t a monster, but a magician. Both men made it clear that Kastchei is controlling Ivan’s movements. This has been a problematic fight in the past, making it magical helped. Link to comment
