dirac
New Ballet presents "The San Jose Nutcracker." Quote She caught Rawson’s eye at a summer intensive program at New Ballet and was offered a position to train with the company without worrying about the tuition. And now she’s got the lead in the company’s big show of the year, which features San Jose’s electric light tower, an Uncle Nikola (as in Tesla) and a Casa de Fruta character in place of the traditional Mother Ginger. dirac
Dancers talk about having to go on as last-minute replacements. dirac
A review of Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo by Marina Harss for DanceTabs. Quote What works in the best Trockadero parodies, like Lac des Cygnes, is that they “get” what is inherently ridiculous about the source material. Ballet has so much that is over-the-top, ripe for parody. All the Trocks have to do is show it to us, with a wink. When that doesn’t happen, as with Nightcrawlers, the jokes go flat. Link to comment
