dirac
Plenty of options for Connecticut residents looking for a Nutcracker to go see. Quote After transitioning to a virtual performance last year, Arthur Fredric, Danbury Music Centre’s artistic director, said he is thrilled to be bringing the annual performance back to the stage — a tradition that’s been going on for more than 50 years. The Danbury Music Centre’s “The Nutcracker” will boast more than 200 dancers from the greater Danbury area, and features a children’s chorus accompanied by the Danbury Symphony Orchestra. The ballet will be held at Danbury High School. Link to comment
dirac
A review of Sarasota Ballet by Sara Rachon for YourObserver.com. Quote “Summertide” was a lost ballet that was recovered and first performed by the Sarasota Ballet in 2015. The curtain opens on the first movement revealing a stunning set and costume design by Dick Bird. Ricardo Rhodes stood out among the men and Marijana Dominis among the women during the bright and lively first and third movements. Wright’s choreography is technically challenging and visually pleasing with notes of Balanchine and Ashton style. Link to comment

dirac
Colorado Ballet gets new sets and costumes by Holly Hynes. Quote Long a part of the design team at the New York City Ballet, Hynes now works on her own, with an associated team of dressers and fitters and connections to fabricators across the country. She was a logical choice for Colorado Ballet when the company decided it was time to debut new outfits for the show’s familiar characters, such as young Clara, her godfather, Drosselmeyer, and the Sugar Plum Fairy.
