dirac
This piece by Laura Cappelle in The Financial Times looks at companies who are experimenting with crowdfunding. Quote It was an unqualified success: with 249 contributors, the Amsterdam-based company exceeded its campaign goal of €30,000. While it’s a modest sum for opera and ballet, where multi-million-pound budgets are the norm, both art forms are waking up to the long-term potential of small giving in straitened times. “You reach a completely different audience of new, younger donors,” says Ruth de Vries, the head of fundraising for Dutch National Opera & Ballet. “And a lot of people who donate to a crowdfunding campaign also attend the performance, because you got their attention.” Link to comment
sandik
Thanks for posting this link here -- I don't see the FT on a regular basis. Crowd-sourcing has become a regular part of small organization budgets, but I hadn't really heard much about its affect on larger institutions. Link to comment
