Natalia
Here's the latest announcement from PBS on the 2012 Vienna New Year's Day concert: http://www.pbs.org/w...out-the-program/1219/ It promises three ballet sequences filmed at the Belvedere Palace, choreographed by Davide Bombana (La Scala principal for many years, later the AD of MaggioDanza in Florence). Principals and soloists of the Vienna State Ballet will be featured. While the titles of the ballet portions are not cited, the full list of concert numbers includes a waltz from Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty, so maybe we'll see bits of Beauty? [Note: The Vienna State Ballet is currently performing a run of Peter Wright's Sleeping Beauty; I'm not sure if Bombana will change it for TV. I'm crossing fingers that perhaps we'll get to see parts of Olga Esina's highly-praised Aurora...or anything danced by Olga Esina.] Guests include the Vienna Boys Choir. Mariss Jansons will conduct the Vienna Philharmonic. Julie Andrews will again be the emcee. As always, "check local listings" for your local viewing times. Link to comment
