Barbara
I just received an email announcing the appearance on April 19th of the Russian National Ballet Theatre at a small local theatre in my community. They are doing Cinderella and the press release notes that the dancers "will include stars from the Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet". Does anyone have any information about this company? Could there really be "stars" from the Bolshoi and Kirov appearing with them at such a small venue (55 miles from NYC)? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Link to comment

Fairy Godmother - Nadezhda Illarionova (?). The prince and the dance teacher - got confused in names. The manager of the theater Elena Radchenko (Valueva) was a principal with Bolshoi, but if my friend is correct, she started with Mariinsky & Vaganova academy..... Cinderela and Godmother dancing was great, guys were very good. and I guess for the saving of not driving to NYC or Washington or Boston, it's a great deal. Y Link to comment
Barbara
Thank you, Y. At $42 a ticket I don't think I should pass it up since it's right in the neighborhood! And your comments have encouraged me to take the chance. Link to comment
Ostrich
It's often difficult to know which Russian ballet company is which. I saw the Russian National Ballet three times and their performance quality varied greatly. But then it might not be the same company as the Russian national Ballet Theatre. There were no Bolshoi/Mariinsky dancers when I saw them (a couple of years back). Link to comment
balletgirl22sk
My daughter, a professional dancer, went to see them in Rochester, Ny. She said a few soloists were good, the corps were pretty bad. They got a standing ovation, which she said they did not deserve. Luckily, she got a free ticket. Link to comment
