The home page is http://www.ballets-russes.com/index.htm Their mission is: To honor and explore the legacy of this revolutionary performing company, Ballets Russes 2009 will feature dance, music, visual art, cinema, and other happenings inspired by the genius of Diaghilev's creative team and the extraordinary figure of the impresario himself. There will be an academic conference and many other events. It looks very exciting. Here is the calendar: Festival Calendar Saturday, May 16 Diaghilev Day parade on the Charles River Esplanade. 11 am Balagan street fair and concert at the Hatch Shell. 12 - 4 pm Boston Ballet Diaghilev Celebration Citi Performing Arts Center 8 pm Sunday, May 17 Lecture and reception, Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford (day) Homage to Feodor Chaliapin, BU Concert Hall. 7 pm Monday, May 18 Diaghilev, a film biography, screening at Boston University. 6 pm Tuesday, May 19 The Spirit of Diaghilev, conference, Boston University. 9 am - 5 pm Ballets Russes Concert by the Boston Pops, Symphony Hall. 7:30 pm Wednesday, May 20 The Spirit of Diaghilev, second day, Boston University. 9 am - 5 pm Etonne-moi: the Ballets Russes and the art of the new, exhibition opening, Boston University's 808 Gallery. Ballets Russes Concert by the New England Conservatory Youth Philharmonic Orchestra Concert, Jordan Hall 8 pm Thursday, May 21 The Spirit of Diaghilev, final day, Boston University. 9 am - 2 pm Moscow-Paris-Boston, international gala and fashion show, Schubert Theater. 8 pm Friday, May 22 Russian Piano in the Silver Age, concert and lecture by members of the Moscow Conservatory, Boston University Concert Hall. 11 am The Petrushka Ball, Somerset Club. 7 pm Saturday, May 23 Dance film screenings, Museum of Fine Arts 10:30 am - 4:30 pm Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thanks for reminding everyone of this event. I did give notice of it back in February and I hope your post will give further encouragement for people to attend and report back to us. 4mrdncr Posted March 24, 2009 Share Posted March 24, 2009 I'm a Boston University alumnus, and live only 30 minutes away from Hartford's Atheneum so I am going to try and attend some of these events--with Boston Ballet's performances at top of list.
