Natalia
I've just learned via amazon.com.jp (Japan) that two new DVDs in the VARIATION LESSONS series -- which began last year with Lopatkina and Vishneva teaching their most celebrated variations -- will be released on January 21, 2009: ALINA SOMOVA & VIKTORIA TERESHKINA (one DVD) YEVGENIA OBRAZTSOVA & OLESYA NOVIKOVA (one DVD) Here is a link to amazon.com.jp, although this will probably become available elsewhere in Japan. http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/ASIN/B.../ref=pd_luc_mri As with anything Japanese, they are pricey - YEN 4,150 each (about $45 each) On these DVDs we can hear all of these ladies' tips and expertise in performing classical variations the correct way. The Lopatkina & Vishneva DVDs also included some wonderful interviews and footage of the ballerinas 'at home,' as well as numerous performance clips. Hopefully this will be the case here, too. Natalia
Indeed, cubanmiamiboy. She will be a teacher-demonstrator, just like Lopatkina and Vishneva. Link to comment

Sacto1654
Given the really divided opinions among balletomanes on Somova's dancing style I'm not sure it this DVD sounds like a good idea, though. But I'll take the one with Obraztsova and Novikova, that's to be sure. Link to comment
