Victor5678
Does anyone know if there was a ballet instructor at the "old" Met in the late 1930s named "Miss Curtis"? If so, do you have any idea what her first name was? Thanks! Link to comment
Mel Johnson
I wonder if this were Vera Curtis, who debuted at the Met as a Flower Maiden in Parsifal and later "graduated" to the singing chorus and then became a soloist. Her earliest listing in Met programs name her "Miss" as that was the then-proper designation for dancing choristers. She retired from the stage in 1920. Link to comment

Mel Johnson
Oddly, the Parsifal in which "Miss Curtis" made her debut was also the Met debut of character-actress-to-be Blanche Yurka. "Can't get Maria Ouspenskaya? OK, get Blanche Yurka!" Link to comment
Victor5678
Thanks. I am not sure if this would be the ballet teacher, but it's a start! Link to comment
