Austrian Ballet on PBS

I caught the Austrian Royal Ballet (that may not be the correct name) on a great performances show on PBS on January 1 at 8pm central time PBS website TV calendar. Their website does not give detailed information about the performance. If anyone else saw it, do you think the ladies were doing pointe on concrete (they were outdoors in parts)? It was a lovely performance to the music of Johann Strauss with brightly colored costumes; the choreography was not the most exciting or unpredictable.
