Nick Whitehead
Can anyone recommend a performance of Coppélia scheduled between now and Christmas in the UK. Preferably in the Midlands or South East. Link to comment
carbro
I haven't seen a British Coppelia since 1962 -- one of my first ballet experiences, which unfortunately I barely remember at all-- so I can't very well recommend one. But until someone more qualified than I recommends one (if any is offered this year), I wanted to welcome you to our discussion board. If you see a Coppelia -- or any other ballet -- I hope you'll share your impressions. Meanwhile, please visit our Welcome page and introduce yourself. Welcome to BalletTalk, Nick! Link to comment

About time for a new production... It's my daughter's favourite Ballet story; she want's to go to a performance in preference to Mary Poppins (currently on offer as a birthday treat from her mother). Naturally, I'm keen to help her fulfill here #1 choice! Link to comment
Helene
I'm afraid Coppelia is not on the roster of the four major companies in England. If your daughter is willing to see an alternative, or maybe gain a new favorite, the Royal Ballet is performing Sylvia this November-December, with music by Delibes, as well as La Fille Mal Gardee and a new production of The Sleeping Beauty, both next spring. English National Ballet is touring with The Sleeping Beauty (Southampton, Bristol, Oxford, Manchester, Liverpool) October-December before returning to London to perform the ballet next January. Royal Birmingham Ballet is also performing The Sleeping Beauty in Birmingham and The Lowry, next January-March, and La Fille Mal Gardee in Birmingham next May. Finally, Northern Ballet Theatre will bring Peter Pan to Bradford at the end of November to December.
