  1. Wait...is Wiles doing Gamzatti with Cojocaru and Corella? ~*~Carmen~*~ (P.S. Why do you dislike that certain soloist [and yes I know who you mean]?)
  2. Hmm...well, I'm seeing ABT at Lincoln Center, and they aren't doing Giselle or A Midsummer's Night Dream there. They are doing Ashton's The Dream though. La Fille Mal Gardee has caught my interest...but what cast to see? There are three... Xiomara Reyes and Angel Corella Gillian Murphy and Ethan Stiefel Nina Ananiashvili and Maxim Berlotserkovsky Choices, choices...
  3. I have the opportunity to choose any performance of ABT's in the spring season. My question is--what would you choose to see and why? (P.S. I am already going on May 12 to see Angel Corrella and Alina Cojocaru in La Bayadere, so that one is out!) ~*~Carmen~*~
  4. WOW! That was my first reaction. Palmoa Herrera was a beautiful Medora (my, she has certainly cleaned her arms up!), and Carlos Acosta was a great partner for her. Acosta was a dashing and gallant Conrad. The three slave girls (Gillian Murphy, Michelle Wiles, and Maria Riccetto) were great. However, Murphy was definitely the flashiest, accomplishing triple and quadruple pirouettes. Xiomara Reyes created an adorable Gulnare, and Joaquin de Luz pulled off a cunning and deliciously evil Birbanto. These stars were all outshone, however, by Angel Corella (what else is new?). The Act 2 Slave Dance was incredible. Corella wowed the audience with his spectacular leaps and turns (but maybe he could've smiled a little?). Herrera held her own with her fouette turns. The slave dance alone received a standing ovation. You could tell that each of them were feeding off the energy of each other. Can you tell I liked it?
  5. I know there is one of her doing Swan Lake. Her technique isn't great, but then again that was years ago and ballet has changed!! ~~Carmen
  6. I would have to say that it would've been awesome to see Carlotta Grisi, Fanny Esler, and all of those "romantic era" ballerinas. Aslo, Augusta Maywood, one of the first american ballerinas, would have been a treat!! Gosh, there are so many that I wish I could have seen, the list goes on and on!! ~~Carmen
