Set to Stravinsky’s soaring score, the San Francisco Examiner called Firebird “robust, imaginative, vastly entertaining… with an impact that had the audience cheering raucously in the aisles.” The program also includes Christopher Wheeldon’s Ghosts ©, which recently wowed London fans and critics. The London Independent said, “Ghosts is original and astonishingly atmospheric… utterly gripping.” The program concludes with the spellbinding classic, La Bayadère, Act III. A ballet of extraordinary poetic beauty, this large-scale work with a cast of over 30 dancers was originally set on SF Ballet by the legendary ballerina Natalia Makarova.     The 2013 Season opens with a program featuring Borderlands, a world premiere by Wayne McGregor—his first commission for SF Ballet.
