Roxander indeed rocked the house. I had high expectations and he didn’t disappoint. Pirouettes with countless revolutions and immense control, amazing height on his jumps, swagger up the wazoo. He’ll make an incredible Romeo someday. In the fall, he would be amazing as Puck.

Ahn in general was fine as Tybalt but his death scene made no impact. It occurred to me that as a newish principal he’s routinely given little to do. Han was very good as Benvolio. 

I had the same thought regarding Roxander as Puck. I’m crossing my fingers that it happens. 

This afternoons Pas de Trois was one of the best I’ve seen. It was Gonzalez, Coker, and Lall, who was replacing Granlund. 

Per ABT’s story, Aran is performing this afternoon.

I believe Ahn had one Siegfried and was also supposed to debut Rothbart,  but got the second Siegfried added when Stearns got injured.

Sung Woo Han posted on his story that he’s doing the Pas de Trois with Chloe Misseldine and SunMi Park tonight. Erica Lall, Anabel Katsnelson, and Tyler Maloney are doing it, per a post on Erica’s page. 

ABT posted a rehearsal video with Stearns and Seo on Instagram yesterday. 

Isabella posted a brief video from "Other Dances" with Ahn on her story.

He did a Whipped Cream in the fall season. I don’t recall if he did a Nutcracker.

The ABT site has a note that the July 14th performance of Swan Lake will be a “special evening for Susan Jaffe”

When does Rothbart casting usually go up?

I think they’re doing one of the Swan Lake Pas as part of the mixed rep bill in Chicago. I don’t remember if it’s the White or the Black

There is a rapid succession in which the same casts appear repeatedly,  Indeed, Herman is scheduled to appear multiple times over the course of a week.  I'm getting the feeling that this choreography isn't terribly taxing or difficult.  

 

Hopefully we’ll see Bell, Murphy, and Boylston in the Met run.

ABT will be premiering it March29-April 2nd, at Segerstrom in Costa Mesa.  I have seen a few rehearsal scenes on Instagram: Herman Cornejo and Cassie Trenary. Also Devon Tuescher and Joo Won Ahn. Skylar Brandt showed a scene with Jose Sebastian with a fabulous lift! 

I’m regularly checking the Sergstrom site and ABT site for any casting updates. I’d imagine casting will be announced soon. We’re a month out from the premiere

Ahh, that makes more sense. I have a feeling that Hurlin and Trenary are the ones who are going to be pushed back when Misty comes back.

The R&J pairs this season are Teuscher/Bell, Hurlin/Royal III, Boylston/Camargo, Seo/Stearns, Murphy/Whiteside, Shevchenko/Forster, and Trenary/Cornejo. Hopefully Brandt will get her Juliette sooner rather than later.

Per ABT’s story on Instagram, Jake Roxander is debuting Mercutio today. I look forward to hearing reports if anyone is in the audience.

During the opera season The Met has digital programs. I wish they did the same thing for the ABT season.
