  1. Yesterday I was at a used book store and come upon a children book called A Very Young Dancer. It was published in 1976. The book was a picture book chronicled a young SAB student name Stephanie, who was pick to dance the role of Mary in the Nutcraker. It was really a nice book and I was wondering if anyone know if Stephanie ever got into the company. I tried to look her up at the NYCB web site, but I wasn't sure. Thanks.
  2. Thanks for the replies. I agree with Mel and come to a concludion that LA is too spread out for any ballet company to pull in the audience it needs to make it profitable. But I still think that LA needs a homegrown company and not rely on hand-me-down from touring companies for cultural need.
  3. I was reading other posts on another web site and come upon a post that mention Los Angeles Ballet. I live in LA and I don't ever remember there was a time when LA had its own company. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the history of LA Ballet. I am amaze that with a city this size that LA can't support a major ballet company.
  4. In her note, she thanks Nenette Cherisse, Talara Ruth and Willie Burman also for teaching her to dance. At least she did mention her dance background. ;) All in all, not a bad singer and piano player.
  5. If Megan Pepin is trying her hand on acting, I wish her the best of luck. It would be great to see her on the big screen again. She would be amongst the sisterhood of actresses today who have dance in their souls.
  6. Thanks Victoria! Only in ballet world where internationaly known stars like Julie Kent and Damian Woetzel are willing to come and perform on one's local stage. It is the equivalent of having Julia Robert or Meryl Streep come and perform at your community playhouse.
  7. Hello Eveyone, I am new here so be gentle with me. I attended Friday's performance of Swan Lake and was stuck awe by Ms. Kent and Mr. Woetzel's dancing. Yes, it is very wonderful of them to have both them performing with the Festival Ballet Theatre. I missed Ms. Kent's performance of Swan Lake with the ABT last February at Orange County Performing Arts Center so I was thrill to be able to have a second chance to watch her dance. The students were also deserving of praises. Along with Ms. Kent and Mr. Woetzel, the students give a beautiful performence with which was awarded with a standing ovation at curtain call. Just one curious question tho, it is regular of big name stars like that of Ms. Kent and Mr. Woetzel to preform with regional companies around the country? Anyway, I hope both Ms. Kent and Mr. Woetzel will be back next year with FBT.
