I have the opportunity to choose any performance of ABT's in the spring season. My question is--what would you choose to see and why?

(P.S. I am already going on May 12 to see Angel Corrella and Alina Cojocaru in La Bayadere, so that one is out!)

Good question! I believe Marcelo Gomes is dancing Albrecht -- I'd be curious to see that, because I think he is one of the most promising young men I've seen in while. For pleasure, I'd see Ashton's "The Dream," though, because I can never see it enough.

Gomes is also dancing Oberon with Julie Kent, and that is my absolute must see. But if I could only go to one evening, I would pick Fille. It is a perfect ballet, and who knows how long it will be around.

Hmm...well, I'm seeing ABT at Lincoln Center, and they aren't doing Giselle or A Midsummer's Night Dream there. They are doing Ashton's The Dream though. La Fille Mal Gardee has caught my interest...but what cast to see? There are three...

Xiomara Reyes and Angel Corella
Gillian Murphy and Ethan Stiefel
Nina Ananiashvili and Maxim Berlotserkovsky

Choices, choices...:)

I was very disappointed to see the programming for ABT's Spring '03 season. I was especially disheartened to see how often the wonderful Angel Corella is dancing with a particular soloist whom I find quite annoying. I am disappointed that some of my younger pets do not seem to be getting the opportunities I want for them, and that some partnerships I would like to see are not paired. I look at this spring as an opportunity to have more free time and more pocket money than I usually do that time of year.

On the bright side, though, like Petite, I am looking forward to seeing Cojocaru's Nikiya, as I am Wiles' Gamzatti. Oh, but I wish Michele were doing Odette/Odile with Marcelo!

I don't understand why no one consults me to help plan the season!;)

A certain soloist who makes one want to reach for a flyswatter?

A certain soloist who seems to have inherited, and embellished the Eleanor d'Antuono smile?

Can't imagine who you mean.

Wait...is Wiles doing Gamzatti with Cojocaru and Corella?

(P.S. Why do you dislike that certain soloist [and yes I know who you mean]?)

I am also wondering why no one seems to like that certain soloist. I find her to be sweet and charming. Her dancing and characterizations sometimes remind me a little bit of Cheryl Yaeger. However, I am not completely enamored with all of his other partners.
