If this is not the case? (Plisetsky about Godunov)

Recommended Posts

Here is what Azariy Plisetsky wrote about Godunov:

"Sasha absolutely refused to obey discipline: he continued to drink, could not come to a rehearsal or a performance, believed that he was a superstar and everything was allowed to him..."

Are these two facts enough to refute this statement? 1. Plisetsky was not in the ABT at the time he is talking about - therefore, he himself was not a witness to what he is talking about. 2. None of Godunov's colleagues at ABT ever mentioned anything like this.

What is the context of this statement? When was it written and about which time?

Sorry, I didn't see the answer right away. This is from the interview of Azariy Plisetsky to Mikhail Meilakh in Paris, 2005,  from M. Meilach's book "Euterpe, are you? Artistic notes. Conversations with artists of Russian emigration." Volume I.Ballet. New literary Review. M. 2008.

They talked about the reasons for the conflict between Godunov and Baryshnikov in 1982 (Godunov was not aware at all that he and Baryshnikov had a "bad relationship")).
