His company, renamed the Ohio Ballet two years later, began its Summer Festival at Cascade Plaza in downtown Akron in 1974, performing on a wood stage built from donated lumber.

"We were actually pioneering something there. We laid a wood floor because, of course, it had to be springy, a little bit, on truss work. And then we put a Marley [dance] floor over that," said Jane Startzman, a former Ohio Ballet dancer and director of the Heinz Poll Summer Dance Festival.

Now he is back working on Oliver! once more, this time directing a production designed by his long-time collaborator Lez Brotherston, who also designed Swan Lake. In her recent debut in “Swan Lake” on July 3, Chloe Misseldine left everyone speechless with her outstanding performance. This debut marked a huge milestone in her career, including being promoted to principal dancer of the American Ballet Theater. Misseldine started her journey at around the age of 3 at Orlando Ballet School. In 2022 she was promoted to a soloist at American Ballet Theatre. With other performances in shows such as Don Quixote, The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, Onegin, and The Seasons, Misseldine has shown her determination and flawlessness.

And Daniel was, like, ‘It’s not going to work, we’ve got to get married now.’ ” After a month they were engaged. Two months after that they were married, moving into an apartment Daniel rented on the Upper West Side. And three months after that she was pregnant, the first Juilliard undergraduate to be expecting “in modern history”.
