Quote “Gala 2021” is a fundraising effort for the ballet, which, like other performing arts groups, has struggled to survive over the past year. The group has had to cancel performances and change the way classes were presented. “We usually have a big party with a lot of people. This year we can’t do that,” Christensen said. “We started the company 15 years ago, and we have been able to survive through many different economic crises, pandemics and difficulties of all kinds, and we’re still here.” Link to comment

Quote She studied classical ballet for 17 years, beginning at the Grand Rapids Ballet and went on to companies across West Michigan and the United States, including Lakeshore Ballet Arts, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Anaheim Ballet, Orlando Ballet and Ballet Austin. Quote Award-winning choreographer Jennifer Archibald’s contemporary masterpiece, “Posters,” will also take the stage. The vibrant, yet powerful, work will include a live musical performance by Grammy-nominated R&B duo Louis York and the Shindellas. Music City locals, Louis York worked with legendary artists like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Bruno Mars and was commissioned by Nashville Ballet in 2019 exclusively for the piece. Adding to the live and local collaborations, “Posters” also features spoken word by award-winning author and Nashville native Caroline Randall Williams. Link to comment
