dirac
One of the two indoor theaters at Jacob's Pillow is destroyed by fire. (Thanks to Amy Reusch for sending in the link!) Quote The fire erupted before 7 a.m. and soon engulfed the theater on the sprawling grounds off George Carter Road, reducing the 30-year-old building to a charred husk. The loss devastated a loyal Berkshires community and a dance world already beset by deep losses from the coronavirus lockdowns. Link to comment
dirac
A review of the Royal Ballet by Jann Parry for DanceTabs. Quote Balanchine’s Tchaikovsky pas de deux, which he and Nunez had performed in the previous gala programme, was given to youngsters Anna Rose O’Sullivan and Marcelino Sambé, who have danced it before. He bounces and rebounds from every jump while she times each pose precisely on the music. She hasn’t yet found the grace notes that Nunez does so well, using her upper body in contrast with her fleet footwork. O’Sullivan’s discernible tension had vanished by the time she was able to have fun in a duet with James Hay in Within the Golden Hour. Link to comment
dirac
A list of eight influential female choreographers by Iris Régnier for Bachtrack. Quote ...........Nijinska has a very individual relationship with rhythm: her dance includes jumps and accents that are highly marked out with the dancer's body, which help to define her style which is both precise and powerful.
