Syrene Hvid
Just found a video of corps dancer Alba Nadal dancing Nikiya's death variation at what seems to be a gala of some sort with Teatra Kursaal. youtube.com/watch?v=IS93m7KS6LE It's as rough as you'd expect from the scene when taken out of context, but I sort of really adored Nadal in this. She made for a very intense Nikiya - especially in the first half. I love her expressiveness and the strength of her upper body. She has always been a noticeable presence on stage for me. I treasure her performance on my Napoli DVD and this little recording was a rare treat. Link to comment
Anne
Thank you for posting this, Syrene. It was interesting to see Nadal perform this famous solo and do it so well. Without overdoing anything she always has an expressiveness that comes so natural with her. She is an eyecatcher, even in an ensemble, simply because she never just dances. Her face and eyes are always full of life and commitment. Link to comment
