World Premiere by Larry Keigwin and

Studio Company Premieres of Martine van Hamel’s Trio a Deux

and Lynne Taylor-Corbett’s Great Galloping Gottschalk to be Featured

American Ballet Theatre’s Studio Company will make its inaugural appearance at the 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Center in New York City with four performances February 7-9, 2014.

A World Premiere choreographed by Larry Keigwin and the Studio Company premieres of Martine van Hamel’s Trio a Deux and excerpts from Lynne Taylor-Corbett’s Great Galloping Gottschalk will highlight the performances. Trio a Deux, set to Ludwig van Beethoven’s String Concerto in G Major, received its World Premiere at Jacob’s Pillow in 1978 and was first performed by American Ballet Theatre in 1980. Great Galloping Gottschalk is set to music by Louis Moreau Gottschalk and was given its World Premiere by ABT in 1982. Antony Tudor’s Continuo and the pas de sept from Raymonda will round out the program.

The ABT Studio Company is comprised of 14 dancers of outstanding potential aged 16-20. In addition to a schedule of classes including ballet technique, pointe, variations, partnering, modern, Pilates, men's strengthening, acting, and dance history, the Studio Company gains performance experience through residencies, cultural exchanges and local performances.

Performances by the ABT Studio Company at the 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Center will take place at 8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 7, 3:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 8, and 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 9. Tickets, priced at $25, are available at www.92y.org/dance. The 92nd Street Y is located at 1395 Lexington Avenue in New York City.
